The microwave helmet "Strokefinder"- a successful MedTech West Project.

Traumatic brain injury is the most common cause of death and disability among young people. It´s often caused by traffic accidents, assaults or falls, with an estimated 10 million people affected annually.

In a recently published scientific article, researchers from Chalmers University of Technology, the Sahlgrenska Academy at the University of Gothenburg, and the Sahlgrenska University Hospital, present results from the initial patient studies that show a new application for microwave technology in health care. As many of you know, microwaves have been used to distinguish stroke caused by bleeding from stroke caused by a clot. This new study shows that the technology can also be used in patients with traumatic brain injury.
